Hassan has new glasses 21.3.15

Hassan is very happy to receive new glasses thanks to the help of a donor in Buckie.  Hassan lives at the New Peace Mayega Children’s Centre.  He has been treated for numerous eye problems over the last six years but was recently  referred to a regional centre where it was decided he needed glasses and eye drops. A donation of £50 enabled him to travel with a member of staff for his appointments and get the help he needed. Sadly many children in Tanzania fail to get proper eye care and their development is held back.

21.3.15 A trip to Lamadi to buy sports shoes

Thank you to the Anglican Church in Basle for providing the money to buy trainers for the children and young people at Mayega. On Saturday 21.3.15  the children travelled by dala dala to Lamadi with the Children’s Centre staff Leah and Peter , as well as  Rev Deuli. They were able to try on and choose their shoes. This is a rare event for the kids.

Busega Boogie Band Event

image (1)The Busega Boogie Band did Busega Scotland proud in our first fund raising event of 2015. The band, consisting of the Red Blues plus guests, played and sang ‘Americana’ – blues, bluegrass and 50’s rock and roll. An amazing total of 64 tickets were sold and the small and intimate venue at the Drouthy Cobbler made the perfect setting, as the band and audience became as one in playing, singing and tapping the night away.

There were clear calls at the end of the evening for more boogie nights and the band are committed to the work of Busega Scotland and in playing for us again. We thank them, the helpers and audience who together made the event such a great success. On the financial side a tremendous total of £456 was raised for the construction project at the Mayega Orphanage.

2nd Elgin Scouts

Thank you to the scouts, their leaders and their families for their fundraising efforts. They presented a cheque for £500 to Christine during their Christmas party.  BCDSA Tanzania. will use the money to  expand the solar power system at the New Peace Mayega Children’s Dropping  Centre. The money will purchase  a solar panel for the new building, currently under construction. We hope this will be up and running early in March.2014-12-18 20.12.58
