4.11.15 Scotland’s Newest Charity

In the week before Christine and John headed off on their current trip to Tanzania, Busega Scotland received the tremendous news that our application had been accepted by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator, as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation. In lay person’s terms we are now a registered charity.
Our application was approved in about a month, and without the need for any additional information or clarification. This is set against OSCR’s aim to deal with applications in ninety days – you can’t keep a good charity down! Being a registered charity brings the external scrutiny that provides donors and supporters with the confidence that we are a well run organisation. We will also now be able to claim Gift Aid on donations.
We will need to arrange celebrations in the New Year for SCIO 46101 (our charity number). Many thanks to all who made our registration possible.

29.10.15 Quiz Night Raises £566 for Moving On Project

Winning TeamThe latest quiz night in the Drouthie Cobbler was great fun . The Africa question round had the teams scratching their heads trying to find answers. Mike our Quiz Master had to deal with some good natured heckling . We are already being asked when the next Quiz Night will be! Thank you to everyone who supported the event so generously in time and money.  The funds raised will be used to provide leaving care support. We are currently exploring skills training options and colleges for the six young people who will soon be ready to leave the orphanage. Well done to the winning team ” Three Scots and an Irishman”.
